Exciting New Cover This Week!
Yesterday, Harlequin Teen revealed the third and final cover for Cayla Kluver's Legacy series. I thoroughly enjoyed both Legacy and Allegiance and I can't wait for the third book, Sacrifice, which will be released this October 30th! Isn't this cover gorgeous!?
It doesn't appear as though there is a plot description yet, but based on the events at the end of Allegiance, I just know it's going to be fabulous!

But as she gets to know Corey (slacker, baker, total dreamboat), Sid finds someone who truly makes her happy. From the author's blog:
Reese can’t remember anything from the time between the accident and the day she woke up almost a month later. She only knows one thing: She’s different now.
Across North America, flocks of birds hurl themselves into airplanes, causing at least a dozen to crash. Thousands of people die. Fearing terrorism, the United States government grounds all flights, and millions of travelers are stranded.
Reese and her debate team partner and longtime crush David are in Arizona when it happens. Everyone knows the world will never be the same. On their drive home to San Francisco, along a stretch of empty highway at night in the middle of Nevada, a bird flies into their headlights. The car flips over. When they wake up in a military hospital, the doctor won’t tell them what happened, where they are—or how they’ve been miraculously healed.
Things become even stranger when Reese returns home. San Francisco feels like a different place with police enforcing curfew, hazmat teams collecting dead birds, and a strange presence that seems to be following her. When Reese unexpectedly collides with the beautiful Amber Gray, her search for the truth is forced in an entirely new direction—and threatens to expose a vast global conspiracy that the government has worked for decades to keep secret.
Adaptation is a bold contemporary science-fiction thriller from the acclaimed author of Ash.
Breathe by Sarah Crossan
coming October 2, 2012 from Greenwillow
Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe . . .
The world is dead.
The survivors live under the protection of Breathe, the corporation that found a way to manufacture oxygen-rich air.
ALINA
has been stealing for a long time. She’s a little jittery, but not terrified. All she knows is that she’s never been caught before. If she’s careful, it’ll be easy. If she’s careful.
QUINN
should be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it’s also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn’t every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.
BEA
wants to tell him that none of this is fair; they’d planned a trip together, the two of them, and she’d hoped he’d discover her out here, not another girl.
And as they walk into the Outlands with two days’ worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back? Will they want to?
Crewel by Gennifer Albincoming October 16, 2012 from Farrar, Straus & Giroux BFYR
Incapable. Awkward. Artless.
That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.
Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.
Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.
Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.
Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.
Elemental by Antony John
coming November 21, 2012 from Dial
A lost colony is reborn in this heart-pounding fantasy adventure set in the near future . . .
Sixteen-year-old Thomas has always been an outsider. The first child born without the power of an Element—earth, water, wind or fire—he has little to offer his tiny, remote Outer Banks colony. Or so the Guardians would have him believe.
In the wake of an unforeseen storm, desperate pirates kidnap the Guardians, intent on claiming the island as their own. Caught between the plague-ridden mainland and the advancing pirates, Thomas and his friends fight for survival in the battered remains of a mysterious abandoned settlement. But the secrets they unearth will turn Thomas’ world upside-down, and bring to light not only a treacherous past but also a future more dangerous than he can possibly imagine.

Velveteen by Daniel Marks
coming October 9, 2012 from Random House Children's Books
Velveteen Monroe is dead. At 16, she was kidnapped and murdered by a madman named Bonesaw. But that's not the problem.
The problem is she landed in purgatory. And while it's not a fiery inferno, it's certainly no heaven. It's gray, ashen, and crumbling more and more by the day, and everyone has a job to do. Which doesn't leave Velveteen much time to do anything about what's really on her mind.
Bonesaw.
Velveteen aches to deliver the bloody punishment her killer deserves. And she's figured out just how to do it. She'll haunt him for the rest of his days.
It'll be brutal . . . and awesome.
But crossing the divide between the living and the dead has devastating consequences. Velveteen's obsessive haunting cracks the foundations of purgatory and jeopardizes her very soul. A risk she's willing to take—except fate has just given her reason to stick around: an unreasonably hot and completely off-limits coworker.
Velveteen can't help herself when it comes to breaking rules . . . or getting revenge. And she just might be angry enough to take everyone down with her.

Top Ten Favorite Covers (In no particular order...)
August 30, 2011, Tor Teen
This cover caught my interest before I even read the plot description. It was definitely a good incentive to give the description a look. Once I did, I knew that I absolutely HAD to read this book. It's a good thing I did, too. It wound up being one of my favorite books of 2011!Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London
May 29, 2012, HarperTeen
I love the monochromatic color scheme with this cover. It looks gloomy and mysterious and the stormy atmosphere reminds me of all my best reading sessions.Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel
October 18, 2011, Del Rey
I usually don't go for pinks, but something about this cover makes the color scheme so appealing. I think it's the pink combined with the satin black that really works for me. I also love the dusk or dawn-like colors against the cemetery in the background.Die for Me by Amy Plum
May 10, 2011, HarperTeen
This one hits so many likes for me that I immediately became enamored of it. First, black and red is one of my favorite color schemes. Second, the scroll work is simply beautiful. Third, I love the view of Paris shown on this cover. Finally, it belongs to another of my favorite books of 2011.Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin
April 24, 2012, Harper Collins
Here's where you'll start seeing a theme. Yup, black and red AGAIN! This one screams modernized Poe to me. The black and red against the dried grasses and branches make this such a great-looking cover.Possess by Gretchen McNeil
August 23, 2011, Balzer+Bray
How about that!? It's BLUE and black, for once! I just adore this cover. I love the tree branch overlay on the girl's face, as well as the shade of blue that was used.Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce
June 7, 2010, Little, Brown BFYR
Shocker. Black & red! This one, however, has an optical illusion-like quality that I love. I also love the contrast between the two girls' faces. It's just a great cover over all.The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross
May 24, 2011, Harlequin Teen
This cover is just too interesting for words. I love that the model is actually wearing a corset that looks like it has steel boning. Add the gears seen in the corners and you have a really awesome cover. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
September 13, 2012, Doubleday
This has to be the ultimate black, white, and red cover. The design suits the story beautifully and I love that the circus tent was actually a paper model before it wound up on the cover!
The Space Between by Brenna Yovanoff
November 14, 2011, Razorbill
This is an instance of liking the cover more than the actual book. I must say, though, that the depiction on this cover portrays the main character and setting perfectly. The grey you see is actually metallic, which really does make it look like a steel garden. Perfect!

Victoria hates nonsense. There is no need for it when your life is perfect. The only smudge on her pristine life is her best friend Lawrence. He is a disaster--lazy and dreamy, shirt always untucked, obsessed with his silly piano. Victoria often wonders why she ever bothered being his friend. (Lawrence does, too.)
But then Lawrence goes missing. And he's not the only one. Victoria soon discovers that Mrs. Cavendish's children's home is not what it appears to be. Kids go in but come out . . . different, or they don't come out at all.
If anyone can sort this out, it's Victoria, even if it means getting a little messy.
Elisa is the hero of her country. She led her people to victory against a terrifying enemy, and now she is their queen. But she is only seventeen years old. Her rivals may have simply retreated, choosing stealth over battle. And no one within her court trusts her-except Hector, the commander of the royal guard, and her companions. As the country begins to crumble beneath her and her enemies emerge from the shadows, Elisa will take another journey. With a one-eyed warrior, a loyal friend, an enemy defector, and the man she is falling in love with, Elisa crosses the ocean in search of the perilous, uncharted, and mythical source of the Godstone’s power. That is not all she finds.
A breathtaking, romantic, and dangerous second volume in the Fire and Thorns trilogy.
Nothing ever happens in Norway. But at least Ellie knows what to expect when she visits her grandmother: a tranquil fishing village and long, slow summer days. And maybe she’ll finally get out from under the shadow of her way-too-perfect big brother, Graham, while she’s there.
What Ellie doesn’t anticipate is Graham’s infuriating best friend, Tuck, tagging along for the trip. Nor did she imagine boys going missing amid rumors of impossible kidnappings. Least of all does she expect something powerful and ancient to awaken in her and that strange whispers would urge Ellie to claim her place among mythological warriors. Instead of peace and quiet, there’s suddenly there’s a lot for a girl from L.A. to handle on a summer sojourn in Norway! And when Graham vanishes, it’s up to Ellie—and the ever-sarcastic, if undeniably alluring Tuck—to uncover the truth about all the disappearances and thwart the nefarious plan behind them.
Deadly legends, hidden identities, and tentative romance swirl together in one girl’s unexpectedly-epic coming of age.
