This week's question:
Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?
Again with the tough questions! Let's see... I have been gravitating toward paranormal romance for quite a while now, even when I wasn't reading YA quite so extensively. I can't even remember what one book got me started in that genre. Lately, however, I have been starting to get into steampunk. I have Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare to thank for that. It was a riveting read and made it to the top of my favorites of the year list. It was also awesome enough to pique my interest in the steampunk genre where I had never read any before.
The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly event hosted by Crazy-For-Books. It is a way for book bloggers to connect and discover new blogs they might enjoy.
Every week there is a new question. This week, the question is:
How many books are currently in your To-Be-Read (TBR) pile?
As far as physical books go, I have roughly 18. When you add egalleys to that number, it jumps up to 26. Then, add in the hundred or so Nookbooks I have yet to read, and there are around 125-150. If we're talking the wishlist, you can bet that there are well over 1,000. Yowza!
Hi & Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteA great choice, I love a variety of genres but my fave would be UF :)
My FF, http://obsessionwithbooks.blogspot.com
Have a nice weekend.
Hi Marla,
ReplyDeleteInteresting choice. Although I read in a variety of genres I am most likely to fall for an Urban Fantasy book.
Have a great weekend!

Ooh steampunk! I never knew about this genre until I found out about The Girl In The Steel Corset. Didn't know Clockwork Angel was considered steampunk too(:

I'm easing into steampunk myself. Although Clockwork Angel wasn't a big fave of mine. I liked it, but I guess I was overwhelmed by it's "steampunk-ness". Even though I'd read The Parsol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger and loved it! Still easing into steampunk here and there though! Totally loved The Girl in the Steel Corset!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Friday Hops
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower :D

Hopping over from the Hop!
ReplyDelete18 books is a good amount. I have roughly the same number and a reason why! lol.
My Hop is here:

Steampunk!! I'm really starting to like it as well! Technically I've only read two steampunks, Clockwork Angel and The Girl in the Steel Corset, but I loved them both, and really want to read more! Awesome choice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for following! I've been meaning to read the Cassandra Clare books... hopefully I get to them soon!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog design, I love owls! :)
ReplyDeleteI have about 100 physical books including ebooks in the TBR pile, but that is not including all the books I would like to read someday, that number would be crazy!
Anja @ http://reading2011.blogspot.com
I keep on hearing steampunk associated with The Girl in the Steel Corset and I'm curious to see if it's true - and I've seen so much written about that book. And paranormals are a fun read, but I can't get into the werewolf thing!
ReplyDeleteHey Marla! I thought I was following you previously, but I think I am for sure now haha.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I don't even have anywhere new 1,000 books that I can think of that I'd want. I might try making a wishlist to see how high I could get!!
And I've never read Steampunk but am curious :)
xo,
Lah @ LazyGirl Reads
Steampunk is awesome. I love Clockwork Angel. It's so good. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Oooh Steampunk! I loved The Girl in the Steel Corset, I haven't read Clockwork Angel yet though. And I forgot about all those ebooks for the Kindle...I don't want to even look at the number of books there!! :) New follower!
ReplyDeleteGood Chocice! Steampunk seems to be growing lately. Thanks for stopping by.

Clockwork Angel looks interesting. I'll have to check it out. I've never really been into steampunk myself (not because I don't like it. Just because I haven't really looked into it).
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the follow! Following you back!
Wow, everyone seems to have so many books to read (and I'm no exception!) I think we're all just going to have to read loads and loads to get through them all hehe
ReplyDeleteCassandra Clare definitely knows how to hook you on her books. I loved Clockwork Angel. It was so fun with the steampunk and historical elements in the story.
ReplyDeleteNew follower. Your blog is so cute! I'm just getting into steampunk as well but it was love at first sight for me lol.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Thank you for hoping by my blog! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! 1000 on your wishlist sounds about right! ;o) Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteMickey @ imabookshark
My wishlist is much smaller than my TBR! I guess I've got to the point where I buy books I'm interested in even though I don't have time for them all! At least if ebooks ever take over, I have enough paper books to keep me going :)
ReplyDeleteGreat answers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following - I'm following you back.
Happy blogging.
My tbr books are getting to be around 200. I'm not even goind to count Amazon.
ReplyDeleteLoving the blog! Great answer. And can't wait for CP!
ReplyDeleteAmy (following you back)
Yeah, my TBR pile is scary, both the physical books piling up around my room, but the 356 books on Goodreads, and the multiple eBooks lost in my computer abyss...
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower, because I completely love your blog design! [I'll go check out your reviews and such in a minute :P ]
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a great weekend! :]

ReplyDeleteIf you love Clockwork Angel then mark your calendar girl because July 22nd I have a character interview with Will Harondale coming to my blog. :D
I have really become a steampunk fan. Vampire Empire: The Greyfriar by Clay and Susan Griffith was my first, added with paranormal elements, and I was in love. :)

Hey!!
ReplyDeleteThe best steampunk I've read (and it was amazing!) was Gail Carriger's Soulless series :)
It's great, and since you're interested in the genre, you might want to check it out ;)
Hope you're having a great start to your weekend!
Ninja Girl
Hi Marla! Thanks for stopping by for Follow Friday.... following back now! I'm working on Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments, but haven't ventured into the Clockwork series or anything else steampunk yet. However, I suspect it's just a matter of time!
ReplyDeleteSteampunk! I've definitely been getting into that genre as well, and also reading a lot of dystopia too. And contemp. :)
ReplyDeleteSuz @ A Soul Unsung
Hopping back your way - I, too, loved Clockwork Angel! It really encapsulated steampunk for me.
ReplyDeleteNew follower!
I still have to read The Girl In the Steel Corset. It will be my first steampunk. New follower!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and happy reading!
I have no idea how many my TBR list would run to if I included the wishlist. Thanks for hopping on by.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I'm a new follower.
ReplyDeleteABookGeek - LLM
I've been seeing a lot of paranormal romance preferences. I kind of have to have romance in everything I read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! Steampunk is such a fun genre. I liked Clockwork Angel, too (better than her first series). :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
I tend to switch genres. I've read a few dystopian that I loved recently but I can't read too many of those in a row.
ReplyDeleteI like to switch it up so I don't get bored.
Have a great weekend!

There are so many ways to count my TBR pile as well. It could sound really manageable, or it could sound impossible, depending on what how you count it! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
